Rocky Vista University (RVU) hosted an active shooter training to help University employees and first responders practice how to respond to this type of emergency. The exercise lasted about three hours and was conducted in the interior and exterior of the building.

Multi agencies were involved in the training including the St. George Police, RVU Office of Simulation, Santa Clara/Ivins Fire and Rescue, Intermountain Life Flight crew, and more. The RVU Office of Simulation was responsible for doing the triage (gun shot wounds, blood, bruises and more).  The Santa Clara/Ivins Fire and Rescue were there to assist with EMT training and determining which victims needed the most assistance. Intermountain Life Flight flew in with two helicopters to learn about landing in a small area, and transporting "victims".
